Judge Margret G. Kerr granted temporary total disability benefits to a Miami Gardens law enforcement officer who proved compensable post-traumatic stress disorder after multiple work-related traumatic events. The order found the claimant disabled beginning December 26, 2025, and awarded TTD benefits, penalties, interest, and entitlement to attorney fees and costs.

The employer/carrier accepted the condition only as a mental or nervous injury without physical injury, but the judge applied the first responder PTSD provisions in section 112.1815(5). The order credited the authorized psychiatrist's uncontroverted testimony tying the PTSD and work restrictions to qualifying events, including exposure to a deceased minor and deaths involving grievous bodily harm.

The judge also denied the employer/carrier's request for an expert medical advisor as untimely and unsupported by admissible evidence. Jurisdiction was reserved on the amount of attorney fees and costs if the parties cannot resolve that issue.
